Okay, so we went to a wedding last weekend and I had NO card to give. I know, can you believe it? So yesterday I hit Archiver's and bought some supplies to make some wedding cards. I love this satin ribbon from Yours Truly. The silver and white paper and little cakes are also by Yours Truly. I used my cuttlebug embossing folder to do the swirls. I also added some little gems to the cakes from Hero Arts.

As we prepare to visit Florida again, I am working on this album to get it caught up. I have a few pages that have memorabilia on them so I needed to complete them the "old-fashioned" way. As I was photographing these pages, it made me appreciate Digital Scrapbooking all that much more. These aren't great photographs but I think you get the idea. Scrap Stuff Stolen

I was recently staying in O'Fallon, Illinois, with a group of digital scrapbookers at the Settle Inn. My car was broken into and my two main bags of scrapbook supplies were stolen. Apparently there is a skeet shooting tournament this weekend with lots of out-of-towners, and there are thieves breaking into cars at hotels trying to steal guns. They are stealing any kind of luggage that looks like it may contain guns.

The funny thing is (in our situation) joke is on them because, of the three cars they broke into, they got clothes, a camera (which is still bad but replaceable--they had just unloaded their pics on the computer so no pics were lost), and scrapbook supplies. I did feel really bad for the lady whose children's clothes were stolen. What a shame!

Fortunately, I'm becoming more of a digiscrapper so my heart wasn't too awfully broken. But I am still a stamper. They did not steal my tool turnabout with all my most loved tools in it. I have good insurance so I can replace what was stolen. They did not get any pictures or albums or my camera or my computer.

Mostly what was stolen is: my coluzzle templates and idea book, my colorblocking templates and idea book, all my brads in a cute little container, purple paper trimmer, palette inks, acrylic blocks, sponge daubers, all my zig writers, stamp cleaner and pad, all my stickles, ribbon, flowers, Dymo label maker, and much more. It was a hodge podge of items collected over the years, but like I said, it's all replaceable.

I did get some stamping stuff stolen and since I do still make cards, I will be replacing all of it. I do have a $500 deductible but considering I will get all new stuff, I think it's worth it. :)

Hot Hot Hot Swimming Fun 2006

This is a fun layout that's been a couple years in the making. I started on it last summer but didn't have all the stamps I needed. I ordered the word stamps a few weeks ago and finally got a chance to finish it up when I worked at Scrapbook Castle during the CHA show (July 17th-18th) and am finally posting it.

Cardstock is Bazzill (I think). Idea, stamps, and chipboard from Technique Tuesday. I used stickles for the glittery waves.

Girls Night Out

I had so much fun last night at our Girls Night Out. My Stampin' Up! demonstrator organized a time for all of us to get together, have dinner, and do swaps. Half of us brought swaps and the other half did shoebox swaps. It worked out well since there were 13 of us there. I don't think we would have had time for 13 projects. We had so much fun that we've decided to do it every month.

Here are the swaps I received (minus mine). I decided to go with the little lion baby bib (two posts down). I'm missing the one from my demonstrator friend, Deana, because I gave it to my sister-in-law last night for a birthday card. It was a cute little fold out picture wallet, and I put three $5 behind each photo slot.

I can't wait to do it again next month!

Now that I've gone digital with my scrapbooking, I'm going to try to use my stamps more for cards. I set up a new spot in the family room in my basement to make cards while my 6-year-old plays. Here's my new space. (Try to ignore the dishes in the background--I'm packing them up to sell--and the lamps with no shades because I'm doing some re-decorating and all the toys...I swear this room was clean yesterday.) On the plus side, you can see that I have a great view of the t.v. and a cozy gas fireplace to warm the room in the winter which is a great time to work on Christmas projects.

My Baby's Feet

First of all, happy Mother's Day to all my mommy friends out there.

I was cleaning my daughter's room this morning when I came across the lid to this basket. The basket was given to me by my mom and, at birth, the nurses had my daughter's footprints stamped with black ink on the inside of the lid.

A few weeks later I was looking at the lid and ran my fingers across the footprints and "aaahhhh!" they smeared. I was devastated. I thought, how in the world am I going to make these things stay forever. Voila! Out come my scrapbook supplies. I put a coat of diamond glaze over the top and now they are set forever.

Lately, I've been thinking of selling off some of my scrapbook supplies since I'm going mostly digital. Then I think of all the projects (school, home, work) that I have done with those supplies. You just never know when you might need a stapler with colored staples, a heat gun, glitter, ink of various colors, stamps galore, or even diamond glaze....

I think I'll keep it all. :)

Spring 2007 Album

This is my daughter's Spring 2007 album. I am almost finished with this album. It has four months in it (as do all of her albums). This one is for February, March, April, & May. Then, starting in June, I'm going mostly digital for her albums. I'm sure I will throw a few traditional scrapbooking pages in there, but it's just too expensive to keep scrapbooking all of her pictures the traditional way. And I really like the way the digital pages look. I feel like they have a professional feel. I'm excited about the transition.

This is one of those plain albums from American Crafts. I painted it in white then sponged pink paint over that. I used some Making Memories stamps for the swirls and the letters are Heidi Swapp stamps. I topped it off with two different colors of Stickles (glitter glue) and added a ribbon. I've seen lots of cute things done with these albums with lumpy and bumpy stuff, but I know this will be on the shelf with other albums and I don't want it to get torn up when it's moved around so I kept the cover mostly flat.

Bus Tour

I hated that we only had 1/2 hour with each group to teach it, but I still think they had fun and enjoyed it. It was a page layout with a little book attached for photos. This is Ashley's sample:

I had computer issues at work today but I think I got it all worked it....so this is all I got done today, but I'm happy I just get to scrap at work. Here's some old school All My Memories stuff I've been saving for the right "brown" bunny. I mean, think about it, most Easter bunnies are white. So I think I made a good choice waiting for the right bunny pics to come along. White bunny stuff to come tomorrow, I hope, if my computer at work cooperates--geesh.

Have I Mentioned How Much I Love Kits?

This is a kit I put together last Saturday while cropping with a friend. I bought this kit from Scrapbooker's Dream while visiting Kansas City for the CKU Convention back in 2005. Of course, I changed it around it little because I had way more pics than the layout called for. I love that about kits though. They are a great springboard for creativity.

When I bought this kit, I knew it would work out perfectly for something at my mom's house. These are some of her favorite colors. The crazy thing is that since I bought the kit, my mom and dad moved, but she still has the same color scheme in her new house so it worked out great. This was our first Easter (and first family gathering) at their new home last year.

P.S. The little boy in the pictures is my nephew, Jarrett. Isn't he cute?

I liked the layout but I had too many pictures for it and mine was mostly about the basket so I tried to use the supplies that focused on the Easter basket, and I think it turned out pretty good.

Creating Keepsakes Convention

I had so much fun yesterday at the CK Convention in Collinsville. I have one word for you: KITS. I loved it! I was surrounded by kits. It's like a class in a bag. I bought SEVERAL. I also bought lots of ribbon in these cute little cups with umbrellas (but my daughter stole the umbrellas). I also bought some really cute eyelets. Here are some pics:

Acrylic Calendar

This is an acrylic calendar I made over a year ago, and it's still hanging in my kitchen. The bottom part works like a dry erase board and I just change the dates every month. The layouts slide right in and out of the side so I can change them with the seasons. This is a layout from Halloween 2005. (Sorry about the glare.)

So my birthday was a few days ago, and I received some money from my parents and my mother and father-in-law. I have thinking about shaking up my scrapbooking a little lately. At first I wasn't sure what to do. I just knew I needed a change.

I was thinking of buying a Cricut because of all the hype about it. And while I think it's very cool, I can see how, for me, it could be quite costly. I am easily bored and am always wanting to learn new things and do something different. But I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I can see how I would tie up a lot of money in cartidges I would use only once. That's sort of what I've done with stamps. I LOVE my stamps, but I'm a "use them once and I'm over it" type of person. They are just too costly (in my humble opinion) to keep this up. That's also how I am with my Big Shot. I'll use a die for a couple of cards then it just sits there and I feel guilty for ever buying it.

I thought of joining a monthly club. Since I've been buying mostly stamps and embellishments for the past 2 1/2 years (with Stampin' Up! for a year then TAC for 1 1/2 years now), I'm am desperately short on paper--patterned paper specifically. I liked the clubs but I'm a "buy what you're gonna use and only that" kinda girl so having a bunch of "extra" stuff laying around that seems like a waste--not to mention a waste of space.

So long story short. I'm getting into digital scrapbooking. I took a class at Creating Keepsakes University Kansas City (CKU) in the fall of 2005. The class was taught by the ladies at Epson, and a big focus of the class was PhotoShop Elements. I was instantly interested but wasn't sure I wanted to invest the $$$ in the software and the whole thing seemed a bit daunting.

Well, now since I'm a little older and a little braver and digital scrapbooking has evolved and not just a fad (as I had worried about earlier), I'm investing in a new venture. I purchased PhotoShop Elements 6 and a tutorial from Scrapgirls (http://www.scrapgirls.com/). It was really not that costly. PSE 6 was a little over $100 and the tutorial was only $30. So for the cost of some new stamp sets, I'm going to teach myself digital scrapbooking. I'm pretty psyched.

I'm hoping to actually be able to print my own background papers and then if I still want to physically stamp on them, I can do that too. I think I will end up being more of a hybrid scrapbooker but that is to be determined.

One of the issues that some people worry about when going digital is that they won't print their layouts and actually put them in an album. I'm not really worried about that. I'm pretty anal about that type of thing. Lately, I've been more into getting layouts completed than being creative with them, and I think that's part of why I'm in a funk.

So I'm on my way to learning something new and getting out of this funk. Yay!

Love Struck

One of my favorite songs right now is called Paralyzer by Finger Eleven. The chorus goes, "I'm not paralyzed, but I seem to be struck by you." It's on my myspace profile, and I've been listening to it all morning as I was updating my profile.

There is a scrapbooking line of products by Marah Johnson called "Love Struck." I originally bought this paper because I had some pictures of my husband's tattoo I wanted to scrap but it really seems to have grown on me so I also did a page of my hubby and I kissing.

These pictures are two years old but I just felt inspired to share them today. Enjoy!

It's really strange sometimes how life repeats itself.

My six-year-old daughter lost her fourth tooth yesterday almost exactly to the day that she lost her second tooth last year. In honor of that, here's the layout I did for that second lost tooth a year ago.

The only TAC product I used on this layout is the stickles but I don't think it would have the same "magical" feel without the sparkle.

The paper is some that I have had for years (literally--I've been saving it since she was born). The fairy is from Scrapbook Castle in Alton. The letters were made with coluzzle templates, and I bought the teeth brads from eBay.

Stack of Pancakes

Life. It's the little things.

I loved being a stay-at-home mom for some of the most formative years of my daughter's life. It would be a regular week day, and she would ask for something like a stack of pancakes. I would make them without thinking, really.

Now that I am working every day, these things are "extra special" and we only have time for making pancakes on the weekends.

But I'm glad we had that time together. Now she is in school every day, and I'm glad I have a job to keep me busy. It makes me appreciate the time we do have together a little more.

And every Saturday, I'm happy to make her a stack of pancakes.

Dang it to heck if scrapbooking just makes me so darn happy! Sometimes I wish I didn't have this addiction but other times, I'm glad. Today I'm glad.

It's a slow day at work and while the boss was out to lunch, I made this page. I just love the bright colors and the way it all came together. Sorry the pic is a little blurry and it really just doesn't do the rhinestone circle stickers justice, but it is pretty in real life.

My New Scrappin' Spot

Okay, it's nothin' fancy but I love the fact that I can keep my stuff at work and scrapbook during the down times. We ordered a tv yesterday and it will go above the cubes on the left.

This week has been really busy getting our business up and running. We loaded two barges with grain at the beginning of the week. I was off on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and we were very busy Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday getting our paperwork in order. Since I worked 3 hours over on Wednesday, my boss let me have Friday off.

In addition to some cardstock and Christmas stamps from TAC and an Archiver's gift card, I received this ATG gun for Christmas from my husband. I had heard good reviews and now I'm a believer. It really does work great and the tape lasts a LONG time.

I bought a Cuttlebug embossing folder the other day, and it has been so much fun to play with. Even my six-year-old daughter is fascinated with it, and it really is easy enough for a six-year-old. I love that it fits in my Big Shot along with my new Cookie Cutter scallop dies from Quickutz.

I really need to get a new stamp to go in my scallop circle but for now, I'm still using the little snowflake from the Stampin' Up! retired Lace Snowflakes. The Christmas stamp is from the TAC set called Holiday Magic.

P.S. Sorry about the streaks on my scanner. It looks like I got some adhesive on it and it needs to be cleaned.

Got some new cartridges for these wheels I've had since last year and started playing around. This is a retired set from Stampin' Up! called Sparkling Season.

I was inspired to use my new Scallop Quickutz cookie cutter dies too. Did you know those work in the Big Shot??? Yup.

These are simple but fun. I always need Christmas thank you notes for unexpected gifts and parties. I hope you like them.

We had a great time, and although not everyone could come this year, Dena and GeorgAnn loved their gifts. It was sort of fun, just us Devino girls. We've never gone shopping, just the three of us before. We got a lot done and some great deals. Can't wait for next year!

Black Friday

I'm so excited! I mean, don't get me wrong. I love Thanksgiving--the food, my family, being lazy all day. But I LOVE to shop!!! I'm excited for Black Friday!!!

Every year for the past four years, I have gone shopping with my husband's family. When they first asked me, I was hesitant because they get up early (I mean, EARLY) and if you know me, you know I'm not a morning person. But after that first year in 2003, I was hooked. We have a blast shopping then we go out and have a few drinks at the end of the day (and you know I'm all for that!).

In 2005, Jason's sister and aunt started a new tradition--gift bags. So this year is my year to give them out, and I can't wait for them to open their gifts. It's mostly small stuff like lip gloss, hand sanitizer, a toothbrush and paste, nail file--all basic necessities for a great shopping day. But, for each person, there is some sort of gag gift to fit the personality. The first year I got a disposable camera since I'm the scrapbooker. I won't bore you with all the details but I wanted to show you the bags I put together this year.

I tried to get all felt bags so we could use them year after year. The only one I didn't find in felt was an angel bag (my sister-in-law loves angels). Anyways, several of the girls in the family sew so maybe someone will make her one next year.

They are all from Michael's except the snowflake one which is from Target. The little reindeer one is for Jason's cousin, Dallas. I'm not sure if he is going this year, but he has driven us several years in the past and it's kind of a little thank you for him. Maybe it will encourage him to try to go next year.

I made the tags for most of them. It was fun and I hope they like them. Happy shopping to you and yours!!!

I know, don't have a heart attack, but I actually made two cards today. I was playing with acetate. What fun!

This card was made with TAC Flourishes set, Technique Tuesday chipboard snowflake, Reflection Blue Palette ink, Cotton White Stazon ink, and Stickles. It was inspired by a card by IrishPrincess on Splitcoast Stampers.

This card was made with a Stampin' Up set called Solemn Stillness, Cotton White Stazon, versamark and Silver embossing powder, Pink SU! ink and cardstock.

Scary Halloween Birthday Cake

For my daughter's birthday party, I was going to order a cake with tombstones on it to go along with the Halloween theme but I could not find anyone who made such a thing sooo....I ordered the cake from a bakery and I made the decorations out of shrink plastic. I bought a string of skeletons at Wal-Mart and cut them apart to put them in the cake. I think it turned out pretty cute. What do you think?

Today is our 11th Wedding Anniversary!

Since today is Jason's and my 11th wedding anniversary, I did a layout that I meant to complete a year ago (note the dates). It is made completely with Stampin' Up! products and was inspired from the August 2006 Stampin' Up! supplement I received from the company.

I received the cute little "P is for Perfection" and "Love You" embellishments from a swap. I thought they just matched perfectly with this paper.

This is a picture my daughter took of us at the City Museum (in St. Louis). That's why my husband has that goofy look on his face. I still thought it was a good picture though.

In honor of my little girl starting kindergarten yesterday, I did her first day of school layout from 2006 (I work one year behind).
